The Lowell Housing Authority team, working in partnership with other housing providers, local Government and our residents will strive to provide the highest level of housing and a variety of Social Service programs that will assist residents and employees in achieving their highest level of self-sufficiency.
Lowell Youth Activities Program to Host 24th Annual Scholarship Awards Reception
The Lowell Youth Activities Program, Inc. (LYAP) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its annual Philip L. Shea Scholarship Awards Reception. The Lowell Youth Activities Program is 501(c3) tax exempt 509(a)(1) public charity with the mission to educate, mentor and advance children within the Lowell Housing Authority’s Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Programs. Through ongoing donor support, the organization is able to award over $20,000 in academic scholarships annually to high school graduates pursuing higher education. Charitable contributions are also used to fund an academic-based after-school program, and Summer Youth Recreation program which serves low-income youth throughout the year.
Each year, the LYAP also recognizes a leader in the community who is committed to the mission of LYAP and the community. This year, the LYAP will proudly honor real estate appraiser, mixed-use income project manager, and founding member of the Lowell Youth Activities Program, Dennis Conners. Mr. Conners was instrumental in the project development for River’s Edge, a 33-acre housing development on the Concord River, which transformed a blighted section of the City of Lowell into a thriving neighborhood. Mr. Conners’ commitment extends beyond his dedication to affordable housing projects. Since the Lowell Youth Activities Program’s inception, Mr. Conners has worked tirelessly on fundraising, motivational speaking, and personal mentorship to LYAP past award recipients.
