Home News RENU Gets an Identity

The Revitalization Effort Towards New Urbanism (RENU), the Lowell Housing Authority's nonprofit affiliate defined its identity when it finalized the organization's first logo this week.  The logo was designed by a local marketing firm, who also designed the Lowell Housing Authority's new logo.  During the design process the organization stressed the importance of RENU's vision to revitalization the Merrimack Street Corridor with mixed-use housing and retail, while representing the community partners who will make this new development possible. The organization selected blue, green and white, as the colors themselves signify revitalization, rejuvenation, and purity and are consistent with the nonprofit's vision for a new Merrimack Street. Each of the buildings in the logo is a part of the 2-block stretch of Merrimack Street slated for development. A bike was included in the logo to highlight the organization's determination to make Merrimack Street commuter-friendly through a new urbanism approach to development.  The Board of Directors hope to make the area more attractive while ensuring that affordable housing remains intact and employment opportunities close to home are accessible to residents of the neighborhood.
